Daniel Neil

Chief Data Officer

Daniel Neil joined Tessera in April 2024 as Chief Data Officer. Dr. Neil has over 15 years of experience working at the intersection of technology and biology, bringing transformative technologies to the world. He has a proven track record of delivering scalable data and machine learning platforms, pioneering the design and implementation of AI-powered products, and leading the development of industry-leading biomedical AI prediction systems.

Prior to joining Tessera, Dr. Neil served as the Chief Technology Officer at BenevolentAI, where he led the product and technology functions, including engineering, AI, informatics, product, and project management. There, he guided the creation of a scalable data and ML platform that ingests and harmonizes over 85 updating data sources across chemistry, scientific literature, and multi-omics data. In addition, he oversaw the development of a suite of products that use state-of-the-art AI/ML methods to improve key steps in drug discovery and development including research, drug target identification, precision medicine, and chemistry.

Before his role at BenevolentAI, Dr. Neil worked as a technology consultant with Accenture in Silicon Valley. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. covering machine learning and neuroscience from ETH Zurich and a B.S. in Biomedical Computation from Stanford University. Dr. Neil has authored more than four dozen peer-reviewed scientific publications and patents with over 4,500 citations spanning machine learning, silicon hardware, neuroscience research, and drug discovery.
